KEEPING WARM

Guardian Money, 30.11.13, has replies to an appeal from a home-worker for cheap ways of keeping one room warm. Advice includes …
* A 1kw electric heater will cost about 15p an hour.
* Buy a small oil-filled radiator and switch on for 30 mins every couple of hours – it will continue to warm the room.
* From permaculture.co.uk/videos/heat-your-room-8-pence-day/ …
Put four tea-lights under two terracotta plant pots on an ovenproof baking dish. Tray and pots will get very hot and the paraffin in tea lights is toxic (though beeswax or coconut oil are not) so ventilate the room and don’t leave them unattended.
