BY HOMER SIMPSON & ABOUT THE CALL CENTRE

There is a great Homer Simpson line which goes:

Maybe, just once, someone will call me Sir without adding: You’re making a scene.

It’s a line you can imagine being used by poor old Griff, the bitter intellectual of The Call Centre (documentary tv series), who has just got the boot after pushing his luck a bit too far, once too often, with the boss, Nev.

Griff reminds me of pub philosophers I have known and loved but Nev had no choice in the end and you had to love him when, after doing the deed, he saw Griff out on to the streets of Swansea with the words: “But I still love you, wanker though you are.”
