SHEDNOTES 106: On corporate bollocks

For the Filofacts of handy QUOTES – Benji Wilson in the Sunday Telegraph 25.4.15 on MEETINGS and, possibly, MANAGEMENT and BBC …

W1A is a very funny show, and clever too. The writer, John Morton, is on a one-man mission, it seems, to obliterate that redoubt of utter pointlessness, the meeting, by showing how people trying to talk to each other invariably end up in a vortex of waffle.
But ultimately it works because it’s also not a joke. BBC staff really do have meetings in the Frankie Howerd Room; licence fee payers’ money really has been spent on voicepods and designer furniture apparently made out of orange spaghetti. ‘Birtspeak’, the apotheosis of management drivel, named after the former director-general, was a coinage long before Morton turned it into art.
